Wires Wires Everywhere

By Steve

No matter how carefully you arrange the wiring on, around and under your desk within what seems like moments there will be a massive tangle. Wireless is the answer, but you still have power to deal with and charging all those batteries. (of course someone will also pinch your stuff the second you leave the office!)

personally, i attach a bulldog clip to the side of my desk, rather like so:

it’s easy, it takes a minute to set up, most offices have a few dozen boxes of bulldog clips lying about. if you can’t thread the wire through the clip, you can detach the ‘handle’ of the bulldog clip and reattach it around the wire.

    simple, easy, and cheap!

Wireless in NOT the answer. It’s wasteful as it takes energy to broadcast as well as the signal itself.

If you’ve a “wire problem” then get a nice sock, cut the “toes” off and stick your wires in through it. You’ll find there is less tangle as your “excess” wire is held together in the sock.

If at work then get a more elegant solution by getting a cable tie or make your own by measuring the length of cable you want to tie, getting a rectangle of fabric about half an inch bigger than the girth of the cable and then sewing both ends of the rectangle so you have a zip up cable tie.

Will cost you a couple of pounds to make
